The Department Library was established in 1963 as a vital part of the Hindi Department for meeting quality research information requirements of the academic community of the Department. The function of the Department Library is the collection, organization, and dissemination of information pertaining to advanced research in Hindi.
The collection includes all branches of Hindi literature, linguistics, Social- sciences, and all current discourse studies. The department is giving more stress on contemporary research scenarios with comparative literature. Hence, books in Malayalam, Sanskrit & English also included in the collection which respects the tri-language formula itself. At present, the collection exceeds 46068 (Forty-six thousand and sixty-eight).
The library has a general reading section as well which added valuable rare reference books and encyclopedias of various topics in respective subjects. The reference section contains rare ancient-medieval Hindi books and back volumes of various oldest Hindi journals. The library is subscribing to 36 Hindi, Malayalam & English Journals, which were later kept in the reference section as Back volumes.
